Salicylic Acid Peels

  • Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid, derived from the bark of the willow tree
  • It has a high affinity for oils, making it particularly helpful in acne patients, especially if blackheads are a problem
  • It is also helpful in freshening up dull or mildly sun damaged skin
  • The peel takes about 20 minutes and is repeated 4 to 6 times a few weeks apart
  • There can be mild stinging during the procedure and some short lived mild redness. Fine peeling can occasionally occur a few days later
