The Young Lip

  • A young lip has a 1/3 to 2/3 upper to lower lip proportion, a well defined vermilion (lip roll) border, a gently up-sloped Cupid’s cup, and a soft pillowiness to the flesh. Some lips have visible tubercles in the mid lower lip and less commonly in the mid upper lip.
  • In our opinion, it is rarely necessary for a young woman to add volume to her natural lips.
  • The Aging Lip

  • During the 30s and 40s the flesh of the pulp gradually deflates, the white roll flattens out and the distance between the nose and the lip increases.
  • Strategic choice and placement of appropriate fillers can do miracles to restore freshness and perkiness.
  • Keeping lip size in proportion to the rest of the face is absolutely crucial to obtain a totally natural look.
  • Patients desiring over sized lips are turned down
  • The Pursed Mouth

  • Aging, sun damage and past smoking can conspire to atrophy the entire upper lip, causing lengthening and unattractive wrinkling at rest, accentuated with every lip movement. Filling this lip without correction the perioral area is simply ridiculous.
  • This lip needs micro Botox in order to relax the hyperactive pursing perioral muscle. The skin of the upper lip needs to be resurfaced with the Fraxel Re:pair to eliminate or soften the wrinkles and its support needs to be restored
