Introducing QWO, the first and only FDA-approved injectable available to treat cellulite of adult women’s buttocks.
If you really want to reduce cellulite, you need to understand what's behind it. First, let’s debunk a few cellulite myths: Cellulite isn’t fat. It isn’t caused by what, or how much, you eat. Or because you aren’t exercising enough. There are 3 things that conspire to cause those signature dimples. Let's take a look under the surface of the skin. As your skin thins over time, fat cells enlarge and push against the skin above while fibrous bands that connect the undersurface of the skin to the deeper layers thicken and cause a pulling tension resulting in the much maligned dimpling. Most women will develop cellulite in their lifetime – about 9 out of 10 women, in fact. That means that while your tough workouts and healthy eating habits are fantastic for your fitness and overall wellness — they won't do much to reduce your cellulite.
The enzymes in QWO—called collagenases—are believed to target the structural cause of cellulite under the skin by weakening those fibrous bands, redistributing fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen.
The research has shown that 3 treatments 21 days apart almost always gives the best results.
Your doctor, however, has to first determine whether you are a good candidate for it. Dimples that disappear on slight tension, lax and ripple skin are not good indications for QWO.
Most patients barely feel the injections and there is basically no down time.
All patients have to expect bruising, which appears most prominently the next day. This has nothing to do with the small needle, but is likely the result of breaking down the capillaries that are present within the fibrous bands. Some itching may be felt for a few days. Occasional temporary lumpiness has always resolved within a few weeks.
As with any injectable, very rare allergic or anaphylactic reactions can occur.
All in all, patients have very much enjoyed this effective and FDA approved treatment for their cellulite
